Implants with a bar
A very useful technique to secure full dentures is to use a highly engineered titanium bar to connect implants placed into your jawbone.
Once the implants have fully healed into your jawbone, we connect special components called abutments onto the implants.
We then take impressions of those abutments and the remaining gum tissue. And send it to a very specialised dental technician, who uses high end computer technology to design and manufacture a titanium bar which rests securely on the abutments and gum tissue.
A second sleeve is manufactures which intimately matches the bar.
The prosthetic teeth are attached to this sleeve, and the extremely precise fitting together of the bar and sleeve mean that the prosthetic teeth are feel very secure in the mouth, and indeed patients often report that the teeth feel like they are actually fixed into place.
You are able to take the teeth out yourself at home, clean the prosthetic teeth outside your mouth, and also easily clean around the bar and the implants.
This is important for general oral hygiene and the long term health of the implants and your mouth in general.
