All The Costs to Expect with Dental Implants
There’s no question that dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. They are the closest replica of natural teeth, functioning like a regular tooth root. On top of this, they’re the most life-like prosthetic you could opt for and last up to 30 years (or a lifetime in some cases), so there’s no wonder they come at a premium price.
However, dental implants can actually work out to be more affordable in the long term (depending on the type), especially if you opt for prosthetics like dentures, which will need repairing and replacing multiple times throughout your lifetime.
But if you’re researching the cost of a dental implant or the cost of full-mouth dental implants, you’ve likely found several websites detailing different costs and never mentioning the total cost of your treatment or the prices of possibly required pre-prosthetic procedures like bone grafts. But don’t worry, as the leading implant clinic in the UK, which has placed the most dental implants in 2023, we’ll break it down for you.
The cost of different types of implants
The costs below include the final restoration (typically a crown, bridge or denture).
- Single implants for single tooth loss: £3,500 – £3,900 (higher end of cost includes sinus lifts or bone grafts)
- Multiple implants for multiple tooth loss not in a row: from £3,500 per tooth
- Implant-supported bridges for two or more missing teeth in a row: from £5,800 – £6,800 to replace three teeth on 2 implants
- Removable implant-retained dentures for a full arch of missing teeth: from £8,000 – £9,000
- All-on-4 hybrid denture implants for a full jaw/mouth of missing teeth: from £18,500 – £19,500

Additional costs you should be aware of
A dental implant consultation
Practices marketing a free dental implant consultation might not make you aware it’s with a Treatment Coordinator. A free implant consultation is valuable if you’re unsure about the types of implants, the costs, the process, the timeline and the financial plans. Plus, it can help you identify if dental implants are, in fact, the right treatment for you, as some patients do get confused with other treatments like veneers.
However, be aware that this hour-long appointment is to discuss your dental goals – it is not an exam. If you’re ready to go ahead at the end of this appointment, you’ll still be required to book an implant consultation with a dentist, an exam assessing your bone quality and suitability for dental implants.
At our clinic, we charge £195 for this appointment, which will take just over an hour with an implant dentist, who will take all the necessary X-rays required to proceed with treatment. We do not know of any implant practice that offers these appointments for less than £150. However, in some cases, it can be redeemed off of your final implant treatment bill.
Bone grafting procedures from £250
For example, you must replace a missing tooth or two with a single implant. The endosteal or conventional implants will likely be used. Now, if you’ve researched dental implants, you’ll know that they need a good amount of bone to anchor to them to be stable and secure. However, bone loss is typically for patients who have experienced tooth loss for some time, so they will require a bone graft before the implant can be placed.
Please note that procedures that do not require bone grafting or an abundance of bone are dental implant treatments like All-on-4, which are placed at an angle that does not require the support of the bone. Zygomatic implants are another example that anchors implants to the cheekbone instead. The case with implant-retained dentures is that bone is required in certain areas of the mouth, so you might be able to avoid additional procedures.
Sinus lift procedures from £600
With some patients, there’s not enough room for new bone to be placed in the jaw. Hence, a patient in this position will also require a sinus lift to make room for the bone graft before a dental implant can be positioned successfully.
Affording implants – ways to pay
- Pay for your treatment using 0% finance (over 3, 6 or 12 months).
- Split the cost of your implant treatment over 60 months (14.9% APR).
- Pay half your treatment upfront, then finance the rest (over 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 or 60 months).
Please note that the larger your initial deposit, the cheaper your monthly instalments will be.
A single dental implant on finance
Spreading the cost of £3,500 with a £0 deposit would cost £291 per month interest-free. Longer terms exist with 9.9% APR.
Some dental insurance plans are beginning to cover dental implants. However, check with your provider about your particular plan.
