Is gum disease reversible?
The first stage of gum disease is Gingivitis, which is easier to treat and reverse.
To rid yourself of the disease before it progresses the only treatment you will need are hygienist appointments as well as a daily rigorous cleaning routine.
However, the more severe forms of the disease like periodontal disease is admittedly harder to treat and reverse.
This is because pockets begin to form and the jawbone begins to recede, which can result in wobbly teeth and tooth loss.
Can gum disease be cured?
Gum Disease is mostly caused by an excess build-up of plaque.
If left untreated, gum disease can develop into the more severe periodontal disease, which can result in tooth loss.
This is because your gums begin to form pockets and start to recede – this is the same for your jaw bone too. Eventually resulting in teeth becoming loose.
That’s why it’s very important if you notice the signs and symptoms of gum disease to act straight away and avoid making the problem worse with things like smoking.
The disease can become more dangerous if left untreated may develop into the more severe periodontal disease.
Dorset Dental Implants are able to provide you with treatments to help reverse the effects and allow your gums to repair.
