We provide a lifetime guarantee for the implants we have placed in your jawbone, along with the abutment, which is the component attached to the implant.
This guarantee refers to any mechanical or structural failure of the plant components.
The crown, bridge or denture attached to the abutments undergoes stressful forces and wear during function and for that reason we cannot provide a lifetime guarantee on those components.
We do, however, guarantee any fixed teeth for five years and any removable teeth for three years
The reason for the difference in the above is that removable teeth are generally made of acrylic prosthetic teeth which have a naturally higher wear rate compared to the materials used to construct fixed teeth.
It is vitally important that patients who have had implants placed realize that in order for the gum and bone tissue around the implants to remain healthy, they must have good oral hygiene practices. Good oral hygiene will help prevent any bone loss around the implants.
It is extremely rare that bone is lost around an implant to the extent where the implant is actually lost.
However, small amounts of bone loss may be unsightly around an implant if this were at the front of the mouth, so it is a good idea to prevent this.
